Al Fuego

What do you do on a 40° February night after you've spent the day finally cleaning the remaining crap from around the garden?

You gather everything into a big pile.

And you burn it.

And you get some beers and you set the camera's shutter speed real slow.

And you take some trippy photos.

Awesome pics. Around here, we crack a few beers while we burn stuff, wrap a couple of potatoes in foil and put them in the ashes and keep a package of hot dogs close by in case the Fire Department shows up. "We're not burning yard debris, we're having a cookout!"

Cool pictures! We're not allowed to have fires in suburbia, but I remember the days before the gov't ruled every micro detail of our lives, when my dad would burn the garden each fall. It made for some wonderful compost the next year!

Nice pictures, just out of interest, did you use a tripod. I;m gonna try this.

Ha, Steven, I like that alibi.

Sherry, that's interesting--the grass around the fire pit is some of the tallest, thickest stuff in the yard every summer. I guess our soil likes the lime in the ashes. Hmmm ...

Vegmonkey, thanks. I didn't use a tripod--I just kind of wedged the camera between my knees and tried to hold real still. Next time I will use a tripod, though, because I got some ridiculously blurry photos out of this batch.
