I Suck at Tag

So, it seems that Ali and Our Friend Ben have tagged us for the Six Random Things meme.

Six Random Things...

hmmm...

Six Random Things...

Okay here we go:

1. We got married first and told the ‘rents later.

2. I readily adopt accents although my Pittsburghese is predominant. Over the past couple of years Meg’s accent (she’s not from the ‘Burgh) has been raising some suspicion.

3. We weren’t even dating when we moved in together. We foolishly thought we would just be roommates.

4. We do not own a microwave.

5. We’re both hopelessly devoted to our Nalgene bottles, and say to hell with leeching carcinogens.

6. Before people meet us, we’re quite often mistaken to be lesbians because my name is Kelly. But we like that, because we like to challenge people’s assumptions about gender norms.

A lot of people have done this one, I think, so if you haven't done it yet and want to play, consider yourselves tagged. If you dare to accept this challenge, the rules are as follows:

  • Link to the person who tagged you.
  • Post the rules on the blog.
  • Write six random things about yourself.
  • Tag six people at the end of your post.
  • Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
  • Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

  • Enjoy & Cheers

The concern with Nalgene bottles is BPA, right? If so, should interest you--basically it says that the BPA scare is due to incorrectly interpreting safety studies--or rather, generalizing from results that shouldn't be generalized from.

Is the no-microwave thing a principled stance or not wanting to spend the money?

(Sorry...that worked in the Preview window, I thought.)

Ha! Sounds like a great romance! I know what you mean about being accent-flexible. If I hear a curious accent, intonation, or verbal rhythm, it tends to stick in my mind and I find it coming out of my mouth for about two weeks before I can finally shake it. (If I read Shakespeare, I even end up speaking in iambic pentameter!) Agh. And of course, we Luddites don't have a microwave either. Thanks for playing!

Aha! And I did think you two were lesbians!
But ya know, I was totally ok with that, of course.
I think I just loved the idea of two lesbians growing an amazing garden together and smiling over a row of broccoli at each other's sweaty, dirt stained faces.

    Such Romance.

But I'm ok with the two of you being a typical married man and woman, too.
Nost as exciting perhaps, but fine just the same.

    Jenny,
The microwave is more of a principled stance, I think. We didn't have one when we moved in and never really found a need to warrant one. I don't think that our diet and/or cooking habits have ever called for one. So I guess we don't own one because we just don't.

    Ali,
    Thanks for tagging.

    Ben,
I've had people ask me if I was from Canada, England, the mid-west, New England, and a melange of other areas that I am not from. Pittsburgh is probably the driving tone however. I don't know why it changes, but it's fun.

    Twinville,
Yeah, we thought all the photos with the balding guy labeled Kelly would have been a giveaway, but no. It's something I've lived with for 32 years and I have to admit that it can be rather humorous. So, I wonder how many readers we lost because we're not gay:)
