Future Farm Hand

After weeks of intense training, Lego (thanks for the great name, CeeCee) is now ready for yard duty.

Meg and I took the little lady out to the garden today to see how she'd fare. If judgment were made solely on this photo, I would think that she did rather well. However, her first great garden adventure was consumed with a whole lot of sniffing and fidgeting. We plan to continue these little outings and hopefully one day she will learn to murder chipmunks or weed the bean beds.

I think you will find that a cat is not really a very good addition to a garden as they tend to kill or scare off the small birds that like to eat pest insects.

Then there is the parasites in their poo, which you do not want anywhere near your food source, particularly as those parasites have been associated with mental illness if the child becomes infected in the womb when their brain is still developing.

She looks like she's got the cat stalking thing figured out!
I love the first picture. Kittens are such fun to play with---like having your very own pet tiger, only smaller and more socially responsible. :)

....Or poop and pee on your garden. Beware. Cats are notorius for using garden beds as litterboxes.

Cat pee will probably make your veggies taste a little weird...and cat crap...is just ewwww!

She sure is a cutie, though :)

Garden cat update:
Okay, we didn't realize that cats could be so harmful to our garden. We never intended to have her out there permanently, just long enough to get her smell in there and hopefully disturb the chipmunks and mice. We will keep taking her our for short visits, but we will certainly keep an eye on the possible negative impacts. Thanks for the heads up.
