Those Who Wander

Every Fall Meg and I Make our way to the mountains to savor the cool air and turning leaves. One of our favorite spots is Hawk Mountain in central PA. We actually went on our hike a couple weeks ago, but we're just now getting to post about it.

We were joined by our friends Jeff and Large and traversed a rarely flat six mile loop. Meg brought her SLR camera and will post her share soon.

When we go on extended hikes it's tradition that we have tea.

How can you NOT have tea?

Tea on a fall hike sounds perfect to me :)

Aha! I thought I recognized the view. I love Hawk Mountain at this time of year. Our land is very close to it. Having tea on a hike is the coolest hiking tradition I think I've ever heard of. Very nice.

Yes, Hawk Mountain is great, though by now it's awfully cold and windy up there! But the birds are still passing over. A birding friend e-mailed that he'd been up just yesterday and seen 6 golden eagles, a bald eagle, and something like 38 red-tailed hawks, in addition to a number of red-shouldered hawks and others. The chance to see golden eagles is enough to make me bundle up and get back up there!
